How To Snap A CHEMets Ampoule

Snapping a CHEMets ampoule is simple but seeing is believing! This short video covers the right way to snap a CHEMets to ensure the most accurate result. Follow this demonstration to make every snap perfect.

How to Read a CHEMetrics Comparator

Have you ever wondered what's the best way to read a CHEMetrics comparator? This video shows the CHEMetrics' recommended way to read a round or flat comparator.

How to Run a COD Test

Here's a step by step tutorial on how to conduct a CHEMetrics COD test. This video applies to any of our COD test kits.

CHEMetrics Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) Kits Offer Value & Equivalence

If you’re an analyst testing for chemical oxygen demand, you have a choice. CHEMetrics’ USEPA-approved COD tests integrate easily with your current procedures and instruments. Best of all, we offer savings up to 35% over competitor products. Note that analysts conducting competitor and CHEMetrics COD tests engage in the exact same procedure using the same equipment. In both cases, tests begin with preparation of a reagent blank, then the analyst pipettes 2 milliliters of sample into a separate vial. Both vials are place in a digestor preheated to 150 degrees. After two hours, all vials are removed and inverted, then placed in a rack and covered to cool for at least 30 minutes. Using the same spectrophotometer, the analyst’s results are the same for both samples. Again, CHEMetrics USEPA approved COD kits are materially equivalent to competitors and up to 35% less expensive. CHEMetrics: for simplicity and value in water analysis.

Testing for Persulfate with CHEMetrics K-7870 and K-5543

Testing for Persulfate is easy with the CHEMets® visual test kit K-7870. If you are in need of an instrumental test kit CHEMetrics hydrogen peroxide Vacu-vials® kit K-5543 can be used with a slightly modified procedure detailed in this video.

Testing for Hydrogen Peroxide in Aseptic Packaging with CHEMetrics K-5543

Use of the CHEMetrics K-5543 Vacu-vials® instrumental test kit and our A-0214 snapper allow analysts to test for hydrogen peroxide up to 6 ppm. Rely on CHEMetrics for #SimplicityInWaterAnalysis

Comparing Hardness Test Kits: CHEMetrics K-4520 vs the Drop-Count Test Method

When measuring Total Hardness, you can use the drop-count test method or CHEMetrics Titrets ampoules. The CHEMetrics test is superior. Titrant and buffer are pre-measured and indicator is pre-dosed, so there's no need to add individual reagents, and you don’t have to count drops – but you *can* count on CHEMetrics for simplicity in water analysis.

How to Measure Sulfide Using the CHEMetrics K-9510 Test Kit

A demonstration of the CHEMetrics K-9510 Sulfide CHEMets® test kit. Both the low range (round) and high range (flat) comparators are demonstrated. Count on CHEMetrics for Simplicity in Water Analysis.

CHEMetrics vs Hach Ozone DPD Test Method Comparison

Use of the CHEMetrics K-7423 Ozone Vacu-vials® instrumental test kit compared to the Hach OZ-2 visual test kit. Our testing method uses self-filling ampoules and a pre-calibrated photometer. There are no powders to dissolve, no ozone loss to be concerned about, and no mess. The CHEMetrics DPD ampoule method: It delivers accurate, repeatable results every time.

Testing for Ozone in Bottled Water with CHEMetrics K-7433

Use of the CHEMetrics K-7433 Vacu-vials® instrumental test kit and our A-0214 snapper allows analysts to test for ozone in bottled water up to 0.75 ppm. Rely on CHEMetrics for Simplicity in Water Analysis.

June 2022: Updated to include examples of retesting ampoules.

CHEMets® Self-filling Ampoules for Visual Colorimetric Analysis

CHEMets® ampoules are designed for maximum simplicity and accuracy, employing stable reagents vacuum-sealed in self-filling ampoules. Each glass ampoule is 7 mm in diameter, 100 mm in length, with a tapered, pre-scored tip. Test procedures are fast, easy and accurate. For field and lab use, most colorimetric kits come with everything needed to perform 30 tests. Reagent ampoules and kit accessories are also sold separately. For more information, click on the video.

Vacu-vials® Self-filling Ampoules for Instrumental Colorimetric Water Analysis

CHEMetrics' unique snap and read Vacu-vials® self-filling ampoules are ideally suited for customers preferring an instrumental result when analyzing samples, whether in the field or in the lab. Vacu-vials ® ampoules can be used with CHEMetrics Direct-Readout Photometers or any spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13 mm diameter round cell. When using other manufacturer’s equipment, simply set your spectrophotometer to the absorbance mode, select the wavelength designated in the Vacu-vials® kit instructions, and follow the test procedure. To convert from absorbance to concentration in ppm, use the calibration provided in our kit instructions, or use the Concentration Calculator found under the “Support” tab on our website. Most Vacu-vials® colorimetric kits include everything needed to perform 30 tests.

VACUettes® High Range Visual Colorimetric Analysis

VACUettes® ampoules are designed for visual analysis of highly concentrated samples. A capillary tip on the self-filling ampoule makes it easy to collect and analyze a small, precisely measured volume of concentrated sample eliminating the need for a time-consuming and error-prone preliminary dilution. As a result, the entire test typically takes only 2-3 minutes. Packaged with everything needed to run 30 tests, VACUettes® are compact and highly portable, making them ideal for fast, dependable analysis in the lab or in the field. For more information, click on the video.

Hand-held Titrets® Titration Cells for Titrimetric Analysis

Titrets® self-filling reagent ampoules make it easy to perform quick, accurate titrations of water samples. Each ampoule contains a vacuum-sealed liquid titrant with a flexible valve assembly attached allowing the analyst to precisely control the flow of sample into the ampoule. The resulting color change signals when the endpoint has been reached. Titrets® kits include everything needed to perform 30 tests. Extremely easy to use, Titrets® ampoules are ideal for lab and field use. Kits are available for total alkalinity, chloride, total hardness, nitrite and more. Dissolved Oxygen Testing on the Chesapeake Bay

The Sultana Education Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Maryland. They use their Schooner Sultana program to teach kids about environmental science and history, and part of the lesson includes water quality testing. Sultana has relied on CHEMetrics Dissolved Oxygen Test Kits for more than a decade for this program. As Chris Cerino, Sultana’s Vice President, explains, CHEMetrics’ products are “simple to use, [with just] a couple of easy steps, and it’s really kind of fun.”

Measuring PPB Oxygen in Boiler Systems

Dissolved Oxygen must be monitored and controlled to avoid catastrophic failure of steam-generating boiler systems. CHEMetrics’ portable, easy-to-use Dissolved Oxygen (D.O.) Test Kits are sensitive down to 2 parts-per-billion (ppb), and they employ an ASTM method for measuring trace levels of D.O. in boiler applications. CHEMetrics D.O. CHEMets® ampoules provide power plant operators with a rapid, reliable means to determine ppb levels of Dissolved Oxygen.
